Nephrotic Syndrome is a refractory disease in clinic. Usually, after a period
of hormone treatment, most of the patients can have some relief in clinical
symptoms. However, once they reduce the hormone dosages or encounter infections,
the disease will reoccur at once. Why Nephrotic Syndrome is so refractory? Is
there an effective treatment for the disease?
Immune dysfunction plays a major role in Nephrotic Syndrome. Our human body
has a strong immune system including innate immune system and back-up system to
keep us stay in a healthy and normal state. When foreign pathological substances
invade into body, the antibodies are activated by the immune system to defeat
them.
However, in Nephrotic Syndrome, the patient's innate immune system can not
function normally. As a result, the innate immune system to send excess message
to activate back-up immune system resulting in hypersensitive immune reaction.
The reaction can cause inflammation of kidneys thus leading to kidney
damage.
The conventional hormone therapy can suppress the inflammation of kidneys
temporarily. However, the immune complexes which cause inflammatory injury of
kidneys still exist in kidneys and the patients'innate immune system is not
corrected yet. Therefore, once the patients reduce hormone dosage or encounter
other inducing factors, the immune inflammation will reoccur again. That is why
Nephrotic Syndrome is so refractory.
To treat Nephrotic Syndrome effectively and avoid its relapse, it is
essential to clear up the immune complexes and correct the abnormal innate
immune system. Here immunotherapy is recommended to the patients with Nephrotic
Syndrome.
Immunotherapy aims at treating Nephrotic Syndrome from its underlying causes.
On one hand, it can degrade the immune complexes and make them dissolve in
blood. Afterwards, they will be discharged out of body through urination. On the
other hand, it can help rebuild the innate immune system so as to avoid relapse
of Nephrotic Syndrome fundamentally.
Although Nephrotic Syndrome is a refractory kidney disease, it is possible
for the patients to receive a good recovery and get rid of relapse. In this way,
they will be able to prevent aggravation of renal function effectively.
