Chronic Interstitial Nephritis refers to interstitial and tubular injury
caused by different factors. If the inducing factors can be eliminated, it is
possible for the patients are cured. However, without effective treatment, it
will cause many complications and even Chronic Renal Failure.
Nocturia
Interstitial Nephritis can injure the renal tubular function. When the distal
renal tubule is involved, its concentration ability will decline thus result in
nocturia and low specific gravity.
Proteinuria
The patients with Interstitial Nephritis may have renal tubular proteinuria. The proteinuria is mainly characterized by low molecular protein along with a small amount (0.5~1.5 g/24 h).
Renal glycosuria
Interstitial Nephritis also can affect the function of proximal tubule thus
disorder the reabsorption of reabsorption ability of the proximal tubule.
Therefore, the patients may have renal glycosuria and even Fanconi Syndrome.
Renal tubular acidosis
The renal tubule may lose their regulation unction in keeping PH. Hence, the
patients with Interstitial Nephritis may have tubular acidosis and the urine has
high PH value.
Polydipsia
As the patients with Interstitial Nephritis urine frequently, it can lead to
a mass of body fluid loss. Therefore, the patients may experience
polydipsia.
Renal Failure
If the disease can not be controlled effectively and immediately, the
glomeruli will be involved. In the early stage of Interstitial Nephritis, the
Ccr will decline and then serum creatinine level rises gradually. Along with the
appearance of glomerular damage, the patients will also have renal anemia and
high blood pressure.
However, if the patients can receive proper treatment, they will be able to
prevent the above complications of Interstitial Nephritis. For them, they should
firstly eliminate the inducing factors of the renal tubular and interstitial
injury like drugs, heavy metals etc. Then, after the renal injury is inhibited,
they should take relevant treatment to restore the damaged kidneys. In this way,
they will be able to get rid of the possibility of developing Renal Failure.
