Sodium

Potassium
An increase in the blood potassium levels can escalate the chances of heart related problems, so it is important to follow a low-potassium diet. Vegetables high in potassium as below should be avoided: Broccoli, tomatoes, squash, carrots, brussels sproutssweet, okra, potatoes and avocados, etc. Other high potassium foods include milk, yogurt, nuts, peanut butter, chocolate, dried peas and beans, turkey and salmon.
Protein
Every day we have to eat protein to satisfy the need of body. If your kidney function is still normal, there is no need to control protein intake. But when you have proteinuria or azotemia, protein intake should be restricted. In different stage of CKD, there are different protein requirements. When you choose protein, high quality protein is preferred, such as lean meat, fish and egg white.
Fresh fruits and vegetables
Fresh fruits and vegetables are usually loaded with vitamins and minerals, which can be beneficial for kidney cyst patients. However, if the lab test show high potassium level or high phosphorus level, it is necessary to talk with your doctor or dietitian, as some of the foods contain high content of potassium or phosphorus.
