Why Can Patients with Lupus Nephritis Lose Hair

Why can patients with Lupus Nephritis lose hair?

Epilation is a normal phenomenon, and you can find hair on your pillow or when you wash your hair some of them fall off. But if too many hairs fall off when you wash head, it is abnormal. However, for patients with Lupus Nephritis, epilation is a common symptom caused by pathological mechanism. When patients with lupus , their scalp is inflamed and hair follicles is short with nutrient, which causes hair to fall off.

There are three conditions of epilation as follows:

One, extensive hair loss: it mainly represents that the hair of patients becomes dried-up, easy to break off and fall off, which leads to thin hair or even alopecia.

Two, hair falls off on the forehead of patients with different length, which represents a type of "lupus hair".

Three, when lupus occurs on the scalp of patients, it can causes the scalp to wither and the hair to fall off, which is pseudopelade. For some patients, epilation may be more serious because of improper treatment.

However, they should be not over worried about it because epilation is just a symptom of Lupus Nephritis or the side-effect of medicine. When the condition is steadily under controlled and the application of medicine is reduced, hair can regrow except for the last condition mentioned above.
