What Are the Common Symptoms of IgA Nephropathy?

Specific symptoms of IgA Nephropathy can be clinically divided into two types. One kind of symptom is acute Hematuria, which is common among IgA Nephropathy children patients. Acute Hematuria usually occurs after the infection of upper respiratory tract, alimentary canal or urinary tract. Besides, a few IgA Nephropathy patients can have obvious symptoms such as fatigue,oliguria, edema, Hypertension, high level of BUN and creatinine. The other kind symptoms of IgA Nephropathy are microscopic hematuria and slight proteinuria. A few patients can have symptoms such as severe proteinuria, serious hypertension, Chronic Renal Failure.

Specific symptoms of IgA Nephropathy: gross Hematuria, it usually appears one to three days after the upper respiratory tract, which usually persists several hours or days and turns into microscopic hematuria. Besides, it may be accompanied with stomachache, lumbago, fever. Some patients can find abnormality in urine test such as proteinuria, microscopic hematuria. In addition, there may be a few patients with persistent gross Hematuria and different extent of proteinuria or even accompanied with edema or hypertension.


IgA Nephropathy patients should carefully monitor the specific symptoms and observe the frequency of gross Hematuria, extent of proteinuria, hypertension or other abnormality of renal function. Once IgA Nephropathy patients find those specific symptoms, they should take corresponding treatment timely to protect the kidney from further damage, avoiding Renal Insufficiency.
