FSGS (Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis) is severe pathological type in
Nephrotic Syndrome. Without proper treatment, most patients with FSGS will
develop Renal Failure within 2~20 years.
At present, kidney transplant is still the preferred treatment option for
people with FSGS. However, most people are at high risk of reoccurrence of the
disease after receiving kidney transplant and it usually occurs within the first
year of the surgery. Why does kidney transplant fail quite often in FSGS?
FSGS is an autoimmune disease. Our human body has a powerful immune system
which can prevent the outside invaders. However, in some cases, the immune
system is activated improperly and can not tell from the outside harmful
substances and the healthy cells and tissues. As a result, the immune system
attacks the normal renal tissues and cells, which is called as hypersensitivity.
If the hypersensitivity is not inhibited, it will cause damage to kidneys and
finally complete kidney failure. Immunological factor is also the cause of
kidney transplant fail in FSGS.
In 2012, the latest therapy---immunotherapy is introduced into the treatment
of FSGS(causes and complications of FSGS).
The therapeutic mechanism of immunotherapy in treating FSGS is as
follows:
1. It aims at regulating autoimmune process
2. It can rebuild the glomerular structure so as to inhibit the leakage of
protein
3. It can rebuild immune system so as to recover the normal infection.
Therefore, it can stop the relapse of FSGS and reduce frequent infections like
colds, throat infects etc.
Immunotherapy is not a single therapy, but a comprehensive treatment system
including diagnosis, brand new medicines, treatment methods, advanced treatment
techniques etc. It can guarantee the patients to get the best treatment
effect.
