Acute Nephritis is Acute Glomerularnephritis for short. If the patients can
not get proper treatments in its early time, it will cause a series of serious
complications. The common complications are as follows:
1. Heart Failure
Heart Failure is common among children and elders with Acute
Glomerularnephritis. The patients usually have pulmonary congestion, swelling of
lung, Left or Right Heart Failure. The decline in Glomerular Filtration Rate
(GFR) and endocrine disorders can cause retention of water and sodium, which can
cause blood volume to increase. As a result, the patients will have the above
complications. They mainly occur in the first to second week of the onset of
Acute Glomerularnephritis.
2. Encephalopathy
It is common among children with Acute Glomerularnephritis with the incidence
of 5%~10%. Usually the children have the following symptoms: intense headache,
vomit, somnolence, obnubilation and even convulsions and coma. At present, the
pathogenesis of encephalopathy is not clear yet, but it may be closely related
to the encephaledema and cerebrovas-cular spasm caused by serious high blood
pressure and retention of water and sodium. What’s worse, some patients even
have bleeding in brain.
3. Acute Renal Failure
In the acute stage of Acute Glomerularnephritis, there is mass proliferation
in mesangial cells, endothelial cells, blood capillary coagulation and even
cresent in glomeruli. It can cause oliguria, anuria and acute renal failure.
Generally speaking, Acute Renal Failure caused by Acute Glomerularnephritis has
a better prognosis than those caused by other pathogenesis.
As Acute Glomerularnephritis may cause so many serious complications, it is
very important for patients to receive effective treatment as early as possible.
