Having a healthy baby is all parents’ wish. Some women with IgA Nephropathy
afraid that the disease can inherit to their babies so they hesitate to have a
baby. Experts point out that IgA is not a genetic disease so they patients can
not worry about the mentioned problem. However, they should consider that IgA
may cause damage to their fetus and may aggravate their disease.
According to some researches, if the patients with IgA Nephropathy do not
have high blood pressure or renal dysfunction, they can have a healthy baby and
also does not cause damage to mother’s health. Therefore, the pregnant women
should control their blood pressure within 140/90mmHg, serum level under
1.1mg/dl and creatinine clearance above 70ml/min. At the same time, pregnancy
also can cause high blood pressure. However, if they can control their blood
pressure within control, it will not cause threatening to the fetus.
However, the pregnant women also should watch out for the risk of pregnancy
to themselves and the fetus. The pregnant women with IgA Nephropathy are more
likely to have abortion, stillborn foetus, and low birth weight, slow growth of
foetus, premature birth, and postpartum hemorrhage and so on.
In addition, the incidence of preeclampsia is higher among women with IgA
Nephropathy. Preeclampsia is a serious complication occurring in the terminal
stage of pregnancy. The diseas is characterized with suddenly increased high
blood pressure, rapidly increase in body weight, edema, proteinuria, headache
and decline in vision. Preeclampsia can do much harm to both foetus and
mother.
The women with IgA Nephropathy should also know that pregnancy can aggravate
the disease. Generally speaking, it is very possible for women with high blood
pressure or renal damage to encounter risk during their pregnancy. In some
cases, the pregnant women have healthy condition in the early time of pregnancy.
However, their disease may aggravate very rapidly during the pregnancy or after
birth.
Therefore, the women with IgA Nephropathy should consult their doctors
carefully about their disease condition. If so, their doctors can predicate the
potential risk so that the women can do their best to take preventive measures
to decline their risk and guarantee the safety of mother and foetus. If you want
