Dialysis, as a method to rescue one’s life, should be prescribed by doctor
according to different individual conditions. Weight and height, some test labs,
the leaving kidney function and the current effect of treatment are often
considered as the most important rules to start dialysis. So, those who think
dialysis is the same to all the patients misunderstand the dialysis. How do I
know my dialysis is best suitable for me?
What are related with dialysis? There are three important factors influencing
the effect of dialysis. They are clearance of wasters in the blood, how much
time spent on dialysis and volumes of extra water in the body. Of course,
dialyzers are not the same, the more area the dialyzer has, the more clearance
it makes. There are three types of dialyzer. One is the conventional dialyzer,
which can remove the small solutes, the second is the high efficiency dialyzer,
which can remove the slight larger solutes and the third is high flux dialyzer,
which can remove the small and the medium weight solutes. It is obvious that it
is easier to get satisfactory results with the more efficiency dialyzers,
however, the more efficiency is, the more expensive it costs. Besides this
factor, you can also do many efforts on the other two factors. You see our
kidneys works 24 hours a day to do their job, when they can not work as normal,
dialysis is needed to replace their functions. However, our kidneys works 24
hours a day, 168 hours a week without a stop, dialysis only do several hours to
do the job that kidneys should have done. Hence, every minute on dialysis really
counts, may be it worth several hours work of the normal kidneys. Treasure every
minute on dialysis, to achieve this goal, make up every minute lost because the
machine broken or sudden stop of dialysis and do every treatment to the end. The
third factor taking important role on dialysis is the volume of excess water in
the body. This is the most difficult to solve, if your dialysis can not dialyses
efficiently, there may some water stay in the body, which will do harm for the
heart and other organs. If too much water on the legs, harms or eyes, edema will
occur, if this phenomenon occurs in intestinal tract, you may nausea and
vomiting. On the opposite, too much water lost from your body, your blood will
be thicken, which is hard for the heart to pump to get it flow through all the
body.
What can I do to get a satisfactory effect? To get a good effect of dialysis,
there are also three ways. Firstly, choose an efficient dialyzer as much as
possible; secondly, treasure every minute on dialysis; thirdly, acquire the most
suitable water you should get rid of. Dialysis is hard to deal with, there are
many troubles. So, if you meet other problems, you can email me at
