A state of declining renal functional loss is termed renal failure. The renal
can’t eliminate of toxin, hydrogen, sodium, potassium ion which accumulated in
the blood. Control diet is a basic therapeutic method for Renal Failure, which
reduce the production of toxin and keep the balance of nutrition demand and
electrolyte. However, these food schedules are little bit difficult for the
patients because they need to control themselves to give up some delicious
food.
1. Keep the food with high quality protein
Patients with Renal Failure should limit the protein intake to alleviate the
burden of kidneys. If patients don’t have the protein intake, it may consume the
muscle and organ tissues of human body. Therefore, one patient 1~1.2g/ protein
per kg each day should be intake. The patients should have some food with
High-quality protein, such as milk, egg, meat and bean-curds.
2 Take in enough Calorie
In the course of limiting protein, in order to avoid the shortage of Calorie,
patients should eat food with enough Calorie and low-protein. Such as vegetable
oil (soybean, peanut oil), low protein starch (wheat powder, lotus root powder),
saccharides (crystal sugar, honey, fruits juice ), the Calorie intake should be
kept around 30~40 kilocalorie per kg everyday, lest causing underweight.
3. Control water intake carefully
Patients with Renal Failure, long-term oliguria is easy to accumulate the
liquid in the body, which increase the burden of the cardiovascular system,
which lead to edema, cough, high blood, vomiting, muscle cramp and headache. And
the patients may occur the symptoms of gaining weight, reducing Hct, can’t lie
down, heart failure, pericarditis, dialysis imbalance Syndromes, etc. the
patients should keep weight gaining not more than 1 kg one day and the total
water intake should be equal to the total urine volume of the previous day plus
500~700ml. For example, if the urine volume of yesterday is 500 ml, the water
intake of today should be 500Cc+500 ( 7D0) ml= 1000 ~ 1200ml. Avoid drink more
water, and reduce the water intake.
4. Control the salt intake
Patients Renal Failure can’t get rid of water and salt properly, which may
cause Edema and lead to High Blood Pressure. Salt intake should be controlled
within 5g each day. Limit high-sodium food intake, such as the canned food,
pickled, smoked products, pickled vegetable, fast food and so on.
5. Control potassium ion intake
Hyperkalemia is referring to the kidney can’t eliminate the potassium ion and
lead to numbness of fingers, fatigue, myasthenia of limbs, chest pain, tongue
stiff, pararthria, anesthesia, arrhythmia, cardiac standstill.
High-potassium vegetables and fruits: spinach, water spinach, three-colored
amaranth, mushroom, nori, kelp, carrot, potato, banana, tomato, Chinese dates,
orange, mandarin orange, mango, persimmon, muskmelon, grapefruit, carambola.
6. Maintain the balance of calcium and phosphorus
Calcium and phosphorus are the important mineral substances for maintaining
the growth of skeleton and tooth, and promote the normal operation of
neuromusculair. Patients lack of calcium should replenish with milk, calcium
tablet, vitamin D to reduce the occurrence of Renewal Recurrent Vice
Hyperthyroidism.
7. Food with aluminum and purine should eat less to avoid aluminum poisoning
and gout.
High- aluminum diet: tea, cheese and steamed sponge cake
High- purine diet: meat juice, hyacinth bean, lean meat, duck, mushroom,
viscera( liver, kidney, heat), sardine, eel and asparagus.
