For diets, we usually hear that too much acid food can cause disease, and
alkaline food is helpful to our health. But few people have a clear recognition
about acid and alkaline food. So many people take some improper foods which
cause some unexpected consequences.
Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) patients not only need to take foodstuff with
high vitamins and rich iron, but they should take more alkaline diets. The
experts recognized that cysts can be restrained to grow if PKD patients eat more
alkaline food which can play a function of assistant treatment. But many
patients do not know how to distinguish acid food and alkaline food in reality.
Hence we make an explicit distinction about them as below:
In normal cases, blood and body fluid presents slight alkaline and Ph value
keeps amid 7.35-7.45, which is the optimum status of human body. There is a
system to regulate acid-base balance in human body, and this system can assure
the acid-base balance on condition of normal diet. People should eat more
alkaline food in daily diet. Below are the common acid food, alkaline food and
neutral food.
Alkaline food means it contains more metal elements like Potassium, Sodium,
Calcium, and Magnesium. For instance, the vegetable belongs to alkaline food,
i.e., white gourd, tomato, pumpkin, cucumber, radish, spinage, Chinese cabage,
cabage, rape, celery, lotus root, onion, eggplant and potato. Fruits are also
alkaline food like apple, pear, banana, peach, strawberry, plum, persimmon,
grape, citrus, shaddock and lemon. Beans and its products are also alkaline
food, like bean curd, pea, soybean and mung bean. In addition, mushroom, bamboo
shoots, chestnut, tea leaf coffin and grape etc. especially marine algae, like
sea-tangle and nori, they contains more mineral materials than vegetable and
fruit.
The organic acid in these food take part in metabolism in human body. And
they can produce oxygen, carbon dioxide and water after they are oxidized in
human body. These metabolic wastes can be discharged out of human body and metal
iron left in human body can increase Ph of human body.
Acid food: We say one food is acid or alkaline, which is dependent on the
metabolic product after food get digested, absorbed and, generally, food
containing Fluorin, Chlorine, Sulphur, Phosphorous and other non-metallic
elements are called acid food. Let’s say, eggs, fish, grain, peanut, white
sugar, beer etc. These food contain higher Sulphur and Phosphorous which becomes
into Sulfuric Acid and Phosphoric Acid so that the acidity of human body
increases.
Neutral Food means there is equivalent metallic and nonmetallic element in
food. And the metabolic product keeps an acid-base balance, for instances, milk
and asparagus etc.
It is advisable to take adequate alkaline food in daily life, which can keep
acid-base balance of human body and make the body stays in the optimum status.
Taking proper alkaline food is a good assistant treatment.
