Case Analysis of PKD Renal Insufficiency

Patient: Li Guizhen, female, Guilin Guangxi Province

Main cause: patient had got right-side waist swelling without obvious inducement. No other symptoms are found. Through Type-B Ultrasonic examination in local hospital, the largest cyst is 6.6cm. Patient was diagnosed as Polycystic Kidney Disease in local hospital which offered no treatment to patient. Her two brothers and two sisters also have this disease. No medicine allergy history.

Test in our hospital: patient’s body check result is normal, showing simply genetic Polycystic Kidney Disease. Through Type-B Ultrasonic examination, bilateral kidneys size enlarges with smooth capsule. Many echo free areas with various sizes can be found inside. Largest cyst of left kidney, 3.7cm x3.3cm; largest cyst of right kidney, 6.1cm x5.4cm. Different sized echo free areas can be also found in liver region. Through renal function test: creatinine, 245umol/L.

Diagnosis: Polycystic Kidney Disease, Polycystic Liver Disease, the third stage of Chronic Kidney Disease, Renal Insufficiency Stage.

Treatment process: after patient being hospitalized, Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy was adopted.

Jun 6th, 2008, patient felt less painful on her waist. After 9-day treatment, patient felt much better than before. And she continued to ask questions about her disease and she was confused that why so many family members get this disease.

Jun 30th, 2008, waist discomfort was relieved further. Patient felt less pressure in heart and she began to have a better sleep. Doctors told her to accept treatment continuously and observe the development of illness condition closely.
