Patient’s Consultation: I am suffering from Polycystic Kidney Disease and my
blood pressure begins to increase these days. What treatment should I take now?
The largest cyst is 4cm. I do not get waist pain presently, but my blood
pressure can not be controlled effectively. The higher value of blood pressure
is 140 while the lower is 100 or 110. Please give me some suggestions. Whether
PKD can be controlled? Is it dangerous? What should I pay attention to?
Analysis: PKD is a kind of genetic disease of autosomal dominant inheritance.
It should be treated as early as possible, because with time passing, cysts grow
larger and larger, which can pull at renal capsule, causing waist pain. Besides,
cysts compress healthy renal tissue, which can affect renal function. Then
Uremia may occur finally. According to patient’s condition, his illness
condition is not so bad. There is not renal function damage yet. If he can catch
a proper timing to treat this disease in this early stage, illness condition can
be reversed. Then this disease can not affect renal function and it won’t cause
life danger.
Can PKD be treated effectively and which treatment is better? Presently,
Chinese Medicine adopts conventional treatment to treat Polycystic Kidney
Disease and has achieved good effect. Based on the opinion of wholism and
choosing treatment according to syndrome differentiation, Chinese Medicine
insists that PKD is the production of the interaction of both external factor
and internal factors. Though Chinese Medicine can also not solve the problem of
gene, its effect is much more advanced than Western Medicine indeed. Besides, it
has no side effect and it can choose different treatment according to individual
condition with very few recurrences.
