Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) is a congenital kidney disease, and the cysts
will enlarge with the increase of ages. With the continuous enlargement of the
cysts, they will bring damage to the renal tissues and renal function because of
the pressure of cysts and other complications. Then how can we treat the disease
of Polycystic Kidney Disease?
All the treatment of this disease should aim at the contraction of the cysts
on the basis of protecting renal tissues and renal function. As for the
treatment of this disease, the western medicine usually adopts surgeries or
operations, such as laparoscopic renal cyst decorbicatiou (LRCD), pumping fluid
hardening operation and the kidney transplant.
As for the surgeries of laparoscopic renal cyst decorbicatiou and pumping
fluid hardening operation, the main mechanism of them is that adopt surgeries to
eliminate the liquid out of the cysts and then harden the cysts to prevent the
enlargement of the cysts. However, we must keep in mind that the surgeries can
just cope with the larger cysts and when the cysts are small, the surgeries are
not suitable. Therefore, the patients can just wait for that the cysts enlarge
to a certain level then adopt surgeries, but during this progression, the
enlargement of the cysts may damage the renal cells and renal function. What’s
more, after the surgeries of the larger cysts, the surrounding small cysts will
grow rapidly for the increase of the space and the decrease of pressure. Then
the patients will be faced with the same problem. So the patients have to adopt
surgeries repeatedly to cope with the cysts. During this process, the surgeries
may injure the kidney.
As for the kidney transplant, on one hand, it is not easy to find a matched
kidney for the patients. On the other hand, after the kidney transplant, most
patients suffer from the transplant reaction and they have to take medicines for
the whole life. What’s more, after about ten years about the kidney transplant,
the kidney function will gradually decline and then the patients have to be
faced with more problems.
