Many patients of the disease of Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) have adopted
the treatment methods of surgeries or operations, such as laparoscopic renal
cyst decorbicatiou (LRCD), pumping fluid hardening operation and the kidney
transplant. Maybe many patients have found that the surgeries and operations are
not as effective as people think and the symptoms often recur. Then some
patients wonder whether the traditional Chinese Medicine is effective on
treating the disease of Polycystic Kidney Disease.
In China, Traditional Chinese Medicine has thousands of years’ history and it
has become a part of the Chinese culture. The Traditional Chinese Medicine has
the characteristic of treating the root cause of the disease instead of get rid
of the symptoms. And usually the Chinese medicine is taken as oral soup.
Therefore, the above characteristics determine the effects of the Chinese
medicine. Although the Traditional Chinese Medicine can treat the cysts
fundamentally without operations, the progression is rather slow and it takes a
long time. As the treatment of kidney disease is a long process, sometimes, the
effect of the Chinese medicine is slow than the development of this disease, so
the effects are not very good in clinical.
In addition, the Chinese medicine is taken by oral soup. On one hand, the
Chinese medicine soup is very bitter, so long-term taking may bring much
suffering to the patients or causing the discomfort of the digestive system. On
the other hand, the Chinese medicine is taken by oral method, so some of the
component is absorbed by the digestive system and the effective component which
can access the kidney lesion is decreased. Besides, the Chinese medicine
contains much potassium, and long term taking Chinese medicine may cause the
increase of potassium in the human body. So sometimes it is not suitable for
some patients.
Therefore, on treating the disease of Polycystic Kidney Disease, Traditional
Chinese Medicine is not so effective.
