Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) now is affecting so many people all over the
world, and it has become one of the most life-threatening disease. According to
researches, there is an estimated 12.5 million people worldwide who are affected
by PKD. So it is very important to find it early and to reduce its damage. Then
how can we find it early by effective diagnosis method?
First, the family medical history of PKD: as PKD is a type of genetic kidney
disease, and it has the characteristic of familial aggregation. So once there is
one person in your family who is diagnosed as PKD, the family members had better
take a examination of PKD. And if either the patient has this disease, each of
their children has the 50 percent to have this disease. If both of the parents
have this disease, the chance increases to 75 percent.
Second, regular examination: if you have this disease, when you take the
examination, there will be the touchable nodositas of one or two kidneys. And if
this disease is accompanied with infections, there is the symptom of tenderness.
50 percent of patients have the symptom of swollen waistline.
Third, clinical symptoms: ①, the symptoms of urinary tract: this disease
usually attacks after 30 years old. The symptoms of urinary tract include renal
colic, dull pain or swollen pain of the abdomen and back, hematuria, infections
of upper urinary tract and kidney stones. Besides, there are the symptoms of
chronic renal failure, such as headache, sickness, the decline of weight and
etc.②, the symptoms of caediovascular system: they mainly include hypertension
(sometimes it is one of the first symptoms), right ventricular hypertrophy,
intracranial aneurysm and so on. ③, the symptoms of digestive system: 30-40
percent of patients are accompanied with polycystic liver disease. 10 percent of
patients are accompanied with pancreatic cysts and 5 percent of patients are
accompanied with spleen cysts.
Forth, adjuvant diagnoses: the following methods may help you to determine
this disease more accurately.①, routine urine test, ②, osmotic pressure test, ③,
routine blood test, ④, KUB test, ⑤, CT examination.
The above methods can help patients to find this disease early and more
accurately. Hope that patients can adopt the effective treatment in time after
the examination.
