Many patients of Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) have high level of
creatinine when their kidney function has been damaged seriously. In normal
cases, creatinine should be eliminated out of the body after been filtrated by
the glomerulus, while when the glomeruluses are damaged, the creatinine will be
tetented in the body and damage the kidney and other parts of the body. Then,
except for the medical treatment, diets play an important role for the high
creatinine.
First, control the intake of salt
Generally speaking, during compensatory stage of renal insufficiency and
azotemia stage also have high level of creatinine and are companied with various
clinical symptoms, but it is during the moderate damage, patients can adjust the
intake of salt according to whether patients have hypertension and edema and
adopt low salt diets or non-salt diets respectively.
Besides, if the patients just have high creatinine without oligutia and
edema, they should not stop taking in salt and water. If the patients are
companied by edema, they should strictly stop taking in salt.
Second, supply enough vitamin
Polycystic Kidney Disease patients with high level creatinine should take
more food rich in vitamin A,B2 and C.
Third, the supply of the protein
With the development of the disease and the damage of the renal function,
many patients have the azotemia and renal insufficiency. In order to control the
further aggravation of the renal function and avoid increasing the burden of the
kidney, patients should control the intake of the protein and choose high
quality protein.
