What are the Signs of Patients with Renal Failure Stage 4-5
Renal failure is a type of kidney disease with reduced renal function
gradually, and renal failure can be divided into 5 stages depending on the
glomerular filtration rate (GFR). It is possible that patients with renal
insufficiency do not present some obvious symptoms in their initial stages;
however, when they develop in stage 3 or stage 4-5 renal failure, they will
experience some serious symptoms. So, what are the signs of stages 4-5 patients
with kidney failure?
The kidneys have been severely damaged in patients with stage 4 renal failure
and their GFR is 15-29 ml / min / 1.73 m2. In stage 4, your kidney function has
been damaged 77.5% -85%. And for patients with stage 5 renal failure, the
kidneys are damaged very severely, and the GFR is less than 15 ml / min / 1.73
m2. And the kidneys have lost 85% or more of their function.
Patients with stage 4 renal failure are also called advanced stage kidney
failure, at this stage, patients are often advised to prepare for dialysis or
kidney transplant. At this point, they may have symptoms such as proteinuria,
urine in the blood, swelling, changes in urination, problems sleeping, bad
breath, numbness or tingling in the hands and feet, fatigue and loss of
appetite. All these symptoms will cause patients to suffer from a poor quality
of life.
Stage 5 renal failure, which is also known as end-stage renal failure, at
this stage, the kidneys have been severely damaged and residual kidney function
is less than 15%. Then in this condition, patients will suffer some serious
symptoms. In addition to the symptoms mentioned in stage 4, they may also
present other symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, itchy skin or rash, and the
skin color will change. The onset of these symptoms is mainly caused by the
accumulation of toxins and waste in the blood. At this stage, patients are often
recommended to undergo dialysis, which can help prolong the duration of life and
improve the quality of life.
From above we can know the common signs for patients with kidney failure in
stage 4 and stage 5, if you suffer several or more symptoms mentioned above, you
should pay attention to their condition. Early and effective treatment will help
patients prolong their life expectancy.
